We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. We are a small business. Most small businesses are not covered by the Privacy Act, but we choose to handle personal information to this standard regardless, and some of our activities are covered even where a small business exemption would otherwise apply.

Consultants and applicants: if you apply to join the RaiseWorth Business Concierge, we collect your contact details, professional experience and the information you give us about the clients you work with, so we can assess your application and match you to engagements.

3. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you, most often when you:

  • submit the ExitWorth™ Evaluation request or the Business Concierge application form on this website;
  • email, call or message us, or accept an invitation to a meeting;
  • engage us, sign an agreement, or send us documents;
  • are referred to us by a person or organisation acting on your behalf, such as your accountant, lawyer or a business associate.

Our website's forms are sent to our email system. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use analytics scripts to profile visitors. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests those font files from Google's servers; Google's own privacy policy applies to that request.

4. Why we use it

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry, including running a free ExitWorth™ Evaluation and preparing an ExitWorth™ Report or proposal;
  • provide and administer our services, and manage our relationship with you;
  • assess Business Concierge applications and coordinate consultants on client engagements;
  • prepare reports, documents, valuations, structures and funding materials, and correspond with your advisers where you ask us to or agree that we may;
  • keep our records, invoice for work, and meet our legal, tax and insurance obligations;
  • improve our services and send you information about them where you have asked to receive it.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising to third parties.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only where it is necessary and in the ways described below:

  • Our principals and consultants. RaiseWorth works with a network of specialist consultants. Where an engagement needs their expertise, we share the information needed for that work. They are engaged under confidentiality obligations.
  • Service providers. Companies that host and run our technology, including our email and document systems, our website host, and providers of analytical and document-processing tools we use in our work. Our providers act on our instructions, and we do not authorise them to use your information for their own purposes.
  • Your advisers and counterparties. Only where this is part of the engagement and you know about it or ask for it, such as your accountant, lawyer, an investor you are approaching, or a prospective acquirer.
  • Where the law requires it. Courts, regulators or other bodies where we are legally obliged or authorised to disclose.

If you apply to join the Business Concierge, we may share information about your application within RaiseWorth and with the consultants who would work alongside you.

6. Overseas storage and disclosure

Some of our providers store or process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States. That can include email and document storage, website hosting, and the analytical or AI-assisted tools we use to prepare documents and reports. In those cases we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, for example through confidentiality terms in our agreements with those providers.

7. Automated tools and AI

We use analytical and AI-assisted software to help us review material, draft documents, and produce the scores and commentary in an ExitWorth™ Evaluation. These tools support our work; they do not make decisions about you on their own. Each assessment, score and recommendation we give you is reviewed by one of our principals or consultants, who remains responsible for it.

We do not use your personal information to train public AI models, and where we use an external tool we use it under terms that keep your information confidential to us and our provider. You can ask us for an explanation of how a particular assessment or score was reached.

8. How we hold and protect it

We hold personal information in our email and document systems, in our accounting and client records, and in files kept on our computers and cloud storage. We take reasonable steps to protect it, including:

  • access limited to the people who need it for their work, including our principals and the consultants engaged on your matter;
  • password protection and two-factor authentication on the accounts we use;
  • encrypted connections to our email and cloud services;
  • confidentiality and non-disclosure requirements in our agreements with consultants and providers.

We keep information for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, and afterwards while our insurers, professional advisers and the law require it. When it is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it. If a privacy incident occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

9. Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct anything that is wrong, out of date or incomplete. Write to us using the contact details below and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for making or for us dealing with a request. We may need to verify your identity first.

There are limited situations where we may decline a request, for example where the information would reveal a confidential commercial position or another person's information, or where the law requires us to keep it. If we do decline, we will explain why and how you can take it further.

10. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first using the details below, setting out what happened. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner:

  • Website: www.oaic.gov.au
  • Phone: 1300 363 992
  • Email: enquiries@oaic.gov.au

You can also ask us, at any time, for a copy of this notice in another form, such as by email or post.

11. Changes to this notice

We review this notice at least once a year, and whenever we change how we handle personal information. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows the current version. Where a change is significant, we will draw attention to it on this website.
